When I was in Japan it was the fashion for high school girls to wear long white socks crumpled halfway down their leg as if falling down. This look was achieved by glueing the socks to your leg with a rubber 'sock adhesive'. As fashion dictates that 99% of girls conform, the glue manufacturer would have developed a rapid rise in profitability, I suspect.
